Late August & Early September 2023 Service Changes

The next week or so will see a whole host of changes to bus services across our area, partly as a result of Surrey County Council tendering which sees Diamond South East lose much of their local stage carriage network, as partly as a result of commercial decisions by operators. The details of these are listed below, ordered by date of the new timetable becoming effective for each.

.

Friday 25th August

**WITHDRAWN** 8B: Egham to Royal Holloway University
Operated by: First Beeline
This single vehicle (and driver?) weekday Egham Railway Station – Egham – Royal Holloway University of London – Founders Building service is officially withdrawn from this date. The main First Beeline 8 and White Bus routes 440, 441/441A and 500 continue to link Egham town centre and the Royal Holloway University bus stops on the main A30. Diamond South East will also be running a new Egham Station – Royal Holloway University – Hox Park route ‘RHU’ from Monday 18th September, replacing their own RH2/RH3 routes as well as the First 8B (see RHU below).

**WITHDRAWN** 457: St. Peter’s Hospital to New Haw
Operated by: Runnymede Community Transport
This weekday daytime circular service operating a Hospital – Addlestone – New Haw – Row Town – Ottershaw – Hospital loop in a different direction on alternate hours (0900/1100/1300/1500 clockwise, 1000/1200/1400/1600 anticlockwise) is withdrawn from the close of service this day. The revised Carlone 592 (see below) will retain links between each of the middle locations on the loop, primarily for shopping purposes, while the 461 and 557 routes continue to link Addlestone, Coombelands, Ottershaw and St. Peter’s Hospital. New Haw to Hospital passengers will have to board the Carlone 455 or Falcon 456 to Addlestone, then change buses onto the 461/557.

.

Saturday 26th August

437: Woking – Pyrford – West Byfleet
Operated by: White Bus
Taken over by Falcon following Surrey County Council tendering. Overall service structure broadly similar with only fairly minor retimings, but with more journeys extended east of West Byfleet to/from Brooklands Tesco/M&S. Currently it’s the three morning journeys only, but the first three afternoon journeys will now also extend leaving just the two evening journeys as starting/ending at West Byfleet.

458: Staines – Walton – Esher – Kingston
Operated by: Diamond South East
Taken over by White Bus following Surrey County Council tendering. No change to timetable. While waiting for the new MCV eVoRa-bodied Volvo buses to arrive, it has been reported on social media that temporary acquisitions for the fleet include ADL Enviro 200MMCs YX68 UNY and YX21 RVK, and classic Enviro 200 YX17 NTN. These have been given fleet numbers 50 and 66/67 respectively, with the latter pair of numbers previously carried by Optare Tempos YJ07 EGD & YJ57 EHV.

**NEW** 459: Iver Heath to Heathrow T5
Operated by: Diamond South East
New daily early morning service running Iver Heath – Iver – West Drayton – Central Bus Station – Terminal 5 in that direction only. Buses depart Iver Heath at 0315/0415/0515, arriving at Heathrow Terminal 5 at 0350/0450/0550.

555: Whiteley Village to Heathrow Central
**NEW** 556: Chertsey to Heathrow Terminal 4
Operated by: Diamond South East
Existing 555 service to remain broadly hourly end-to-end across the day, with the current 555 ‘shorts’ between Heathrow Terminal 4 and Ashford extended southwards to Chertsey and carrying the number 556. These will shadow the 555 Heathrow T4 – Ashford – Sunbury Cross (omitting Sunbury Tesco), before running direct to Shepperton as opposed to the 555’s longer route via Sunbury. After briefly meeting in Shepperton, the 556 will diverge away from the 555 again to Chertsey town centre and railway station (Eastworth Road stops). The 556 will essentially follow the route of the Sunbury to Addlestone route 557, over the Sunbury Cross – Shepperton – (Renfree Way rather than Old Shepperton) – Chertsey section, a route that is being lost by Diamond to Falcon from the same date following Surrey County Council retendering. The 556s are generally hourly as per the current 555 shorts, with a similar daytime gap to as now (i.e. no 1205/1305/1405/1505 from Chertsey or 1100/1200/1300/1400 from Heathrow T4). The first pair of early morning/late evening route 556 journeys will start from/continue to Heathrow Central Bus Station respectively (0400/0500 Heathrow Central to Chertsey and 2120/2220 Chertsey to Heathrow Central, all with an exactly one hour journey time).

557: Addlestone – Shepperton – Sunbury
Operated by: Diamond South East
Taken over by Falcon following Surrey County Council tendering. No change to timetable.

**NEW** 710: Chesham – Amersham – Heathrow
Operated by: Diamond South East
New daily early morning service linking the areas around various north western Metropolitan Line stations with Heathrow Airport. Times are Chesham (0250/0450) – Amersham (0257/047) – Chalfont & Latimer (0307/0507) – Chorleywood (0313/0513) – Heathrow Terminal 5 (0338/0538) – Compass Centre (0343/0543) – Heathrow Central Bus Station (0350/0550) in that direction only.

715: Guildford – Cobham – Kingston
Operated by: Stagecoach
Taken over by Falcon following Surrey County Council tendering. No change to timetable.

**NEW** H30: Heathrow T4 – Cargo Area – Heathrow T5
Operated by: BM Coaches
New daily service operating every 20 minutes between Heathrow Terminal 4 and Heathrow Terminal 5 via the Cargo Area. First/last departures from T4 are 0503/2343, and from T5 are 0520/2325.

**NEW** N30: Heathrow Central – T5 – T4 – Acton
Operated by: Diamond South East
New Mon-Sat service running hourly overnight Central Bus Station – Terminal 5 – Cargo Area – Terminal 4 in both directions, with weekdays seeing journeys continue beyond T4 to/from Hatton Cross, Osterley, South Ealing and Acton. Weekday departures from Heathrow 0125-0425, and from Acton 0119-0419 plus a 0047 Terminal 4 to Central short journey. Saturday departures are 0125-0425 from Heathrow Central and 0047-0447 from Heathrow Terminal 4.

.

Sunday 27th August

4: Heathrow Central – Slough – Cippenham
Operated by: First Beeline
Renumbered A4, weekday daytime service increased from half-hourly to every 15 minutes, and overnight services now serve Cippenham rather than just Slough to Heathrow.

7: Heathrow T5 – Slough – Britwell
Operated by: First Beeline
New 0330 Britwell to Slough (0343) journey, connecting with the 0402 Slough to Heathrow Central route A4 journey.

8: Heathrow T5 – Staines – Slough
Operated by: First Beeline
Saturday service sees the 1745 Slough to Egham retimed to depart at 1800 and extended to Heathrow Terminal 5, resulting in a new later 1927 Heathrow T5 to Slough journey. The Saturday timetable will also now apply on Sundays and Public Holidays, essentially doubling the Sunday/PH frequency from hourly to half-hourly.

.

Monday 28th August

**NEW** A60: Sunnymeads – Wraysbury – Heathrow
Operated by: Carlone Limited
New early morning service offering three journeys at 0324/0424/0514 running Sunnymeads – Wraysbury – (non-stop) – Heathrow T5 – Compass Centre – Heathrow Central (arriving 0352/0452/0542).

442: Staines – Ashford – Stanwell – Heathrow T5
X442: Staines – Heathrow T5
Operated by: Carlone Limited
The 442 has a revised timetable including additional trips throughout the day and more evening journeys continuing beyond Staines to Egham and Englefield Green. The X442 variant is heavily increased from just a daily single trip in each direction to a generally half-hourly service all week, from early morning to the evening. Route will operate Staines Bus Station – Laleham Road – Worple Road – Staines Railway Station – Stanwell Moor Road – Heathrow Terminal 5.

592: Woking to Addlestone (T/T/S)
593: Woking / Brooklands to Staines (M/W/F)
Operated by: Carlone Limited
The current 592 Tue/Thu/Sat service running Woking – Woodham – New Haw – Row Town – Coombelands – Addlestone continues with some minor retimings. The route will also now incorporate the Brooklands – New Haw – Row Town – Coombelands – Addlestone element of the current Mon/Wed/Fri route 593 (with one journey starting from and two continuing on to Ottershaw). The timings over the common section of the two routes (New Haw to Addlestone) are timed identically meaning passengers at those points have a service at the same times regardless of the day of the week. The 593 will now consist of a daily weekday 0925 Lyne – Chertsey – Penton Park – Staines (0952) journey, with a return trip at 1140 (arriving Lyne 1204).

.

Tuesday 29th August

461: Chertsey / St. Peter’s Hospital – Kingston
Operated by: Falcon
On weekday afternoons, it will now be the 1441 St. Peter’s Hospital to Kingston journey that makes a five minute school day deviation to serve the Heathside school in Walton-on-Thames, rather than the 1511.

.

Friday 1st September (or next scheduled day of operation)

**WITHDRAWN** 440: Staines – Egham – Windsor
Operated by: White Bus
This weekday daytime service, consisting of three return trips between Staines and Windsor via Egham and Old Windsor is withdrawn from the close of service this day due to low patronage. First Beeline route 8 will continue to provide a parallel half-hourly service.

**WITHDRAWN** 540: Woldingham – Caterham
Operated by: Buses 4U
This weekday service, consisting of two and a half return trips between Woldingham and Caterham is withdrawn from the close of service this day, to be replaced by a new Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service.

615: St. Andrew’s School to Chipstead Valley
Operated by: Go-Ahead London General
Taken over by Falcon following Surrey County Council tendering.

616: St. Paul’s College to Stanwell Moor
Operated by: Diamond South East
Taken over by Carlone Limited following Surrey County Council tendering. This route will see something bigger than Carlone’s usual minibus type vehicles, following the acquisition of wheel forward Wright StreetLite SN64 CUJ.

619: St. Andrew’s School to Lower Kingswood
Operated by: Go-Ahead London General
Transferred to fellow Go-Ahead Group subsidiary Metrobus following Surrey County Council tendering.

637: Salesian School – Weybridge – Byfleet
Operated by: Reptons Coaches
The short double-run off the A245 Parvis Road, along Sopwith Drive and Barnes Wallis Drive, to serve Brooklands Tesco is removed “due to no usage”.

663: Esher High School to Walton-on-Thames
Operated by: Diamond South East
Taken over by Falcon following Surrey County Council tendering.

668: St. Andrew’s School to North Cheam

Minor timing amendments to improve reliability.

669: Priory School to Banstead
Operated by: Go-Ahead London General
Minor timing amendments to improve reliability.

678: Howard of Effingham School to Ripley
Operated by: Reptons Coaches

814: Esher High School to Field Common
Operated by: Diamond South East
Taken over by Falcon following Surrey County Council tendering.

**NEW** SP1: Woodbridge Hill via Park Barn & Stoughton
**NEW** SP2: Cranleigh via Chilworth & Bramley
**NEW** SP3: Chiddingfold via Farncombe & Milford
**NEW** SP4: Godalming via Peasmarsh & Busbridge

Operated by: Stagecoach
Four new routes for St. Peter’s Catholic School in the Merrow area of Guildford, replacing the five previous routes numbered PT1-5. SP1 replaces the PT5 between the school and Park Barn, Woodbridge Hill and Stoughton, however Fairlands, Normandy, Flexford and Ash will no longer be served. SP2 replaces the PT1 through Albury and Chilworth, then continues to Shalford to replace the PT2 through Bramley and Run Common, from where the PT1 and PT2 both continued to Cranleigh, with the new SP2 terminating at Park Mead. As a result of this effective merging of the PT1 and PT2, Wonersh, Shamley Green, southern Cranleigh and Ewhurst will no longer be served. Passengers in Ewhurst do still have the option of a Compass Travel route 25 journey though. SP3 and SP4 are like-for-like replacements for the PT3 and PT4 respectively, albeit it with minor retimings.

.

Saturday 2nd September

All current Southdown routes
The Southdown operation, acquired by Go-Ahead Group earlier this year, will be fully integrated into the Metrobus subsidiary from this date. Some changes to routes outside our area are detailed by clicking here.

4: Guildford – Park Barn – Hospital – Guildford
5: Guildford – Hospital – Park Barn – Guildford
Operated by: Safeguard Coaches
Simplified timetable with evening journeys now running as full-length journeys, rather than the current Guildford – Woodbridge Hill – Park Barn route 4 ‘shorts’ which then return back the same way as route 5. The Sunday frequency is also increased up to every 20 minutes on each route in each direction and running as full-length circulars, rather than the current separate Guildford – Woodridge Hill – Park Barn and more limited daytime Guildford – Station – The Chase – Royal Surrey County Hospital short routes.

**WITHDRAWN** 17: Guildford – Wood Street – Fairlands
Operated by: Stagecoach
This shopper service, consisting of two return trips Guildford – University – Royal Surrey County Hospital – Park Barn – Wood Street Village – Fairlands (just over half-hour each way, 0905/1305 from Guildford and 0938/1338 from Fairlands), is withdrawn from the close of service this day. A demand responsive operation will serve this area instead, with details as yet to be announced. Recent history lesson: Arriva ran an hourly service until March 2016 when Fairlands was served by a re-routed 28, and Stagecoach stepped in with a 17/17A circular to maintain a service to Wood Street (single vehicle alternating each hour Guildford – Wood Street – Fairlands – Guildford). September 2018 saw it reduce to four/two trips per day (morning peak return trip, two daytime shopper return trips and an evening peak return trip on weekdays, and just the two shopper return trips on Saturdays), before down to just the shopper trips with weekday extensions of the 1 serving Wood Street/Fairlands for a time.

**WITHDRAWN** 22: Dorking – Holmbury St. Mary / Newdigate
Operated by: Buses 4U
Last day of operation of the Saturday service on this route, which is run by Metrobus on weekdays. Passengers are advised to use the Mole Valley Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service instead.

**WITHDRAWN** 50: Horsham – Walliswood – Ockley – Newdigate – Leigh
Operated by: Buses 4U
Last day of operation of the Saturday service on this route. Passengers are advised to use the Mole Valley Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) service instead.

.

Sunday 3rd September (or next scheduled day of operation)

2: Guildford – Grange Park – Stoughton
Operated by: Stagecoach
Monday to Saturday daytime frequency increased from half-hourly to every 20 mins, from start of service weekdays and 0750 Saturdays through until 1735. Service remains half-hourly outside of these times.

3: Aldershot – Camberley – Yateley
Operated by: Stagecoach
Weekday school days will now see the 0643 Yateley to Aldershot journey arrive at All Hallows School one minute later at 0823, and the return 1540 Aldershot to Yateley journey no longer starting from All Hallows School on school days. The current extension will instead be replaced by new afternoon-only route 603, which will run:- All Hallows School (1530) – Ash Wharf (1545) – Ash Vale Station (1550) – Mytchett Crossroads (1555) – Frimley Green Rose & Thistle (1600) – Frimley Church Road (1606). Additionally, the 1405 Yateley to Aldershot journey will no longer be split at Camberley on school days, with passengers no longer having to change buses. Currently the Optare Solo on the 1440 route 11 arrival in Camberley then works the 1443 Camberley to Aldershot route 3 journey on school days, arriving 1530, before returning to the 11 on the 1635 Farnborough departure.

6: Guildford – Burpham – Merrow Park
Operated by: Stagecoach
Monday to Saturday daytime frequency increased from half-hourly to every 20 mins, from 0630 weekdays and 0830 Saturdays through until 1820. Service remains half-hourly morning/evening and hourly late evening. Sunday frequency doubled from hourly to half-hourly 0910-1910, remaining hourly Sunday mornings and evenings.

7: Guildford – Merrow – Bushy Hill
Operated by: Stagecoach
Monday to Saturday daytime frequency increased from half-hourly to every 20 mins, from 0740 weekdays and 0915 Saturdays through until 1655. Service remains half-hourly morning/evening/Sunday and hourly late evening.

10: Farnborough – Fleet – Church Crookham
Operated by: Stagecoach
Revised weekday timetable with revisions to all journeys, including five minutes additional running time spread out between Farnborough Kingsmead and Fleet Station in both directions to improve reliability, plus a new mid-morning round trip. The current school day 0735 Farnborough to Calthorpe Park School journey is retimed earlier and will no longer divert to serve Pondtail. Between 0855 and 1355, departures from Farnborough are currently 1025/1125/1225 sandwiched between 90 minute gaps. The additional round trip, and subsequent retimings, means there will now be clockface hourly departures from Farnborough 0855-1755. From Quetta Park this becomes clockface hourly 0939-1339 and 1539-1839 (the gap presumably remaining to facilitate the 1447 arrival in Church Crookham to work onto a school run). As a result of the retimings, train connections for residents of Church Crookham will also be improved at Fleet Station. Arrivals typically have around 6 minutes onto London trains or 4 minutes onto Basingstoke services, and departures home will typically leave 12 minutes after London trains arrive or 10 minutes after trains from Basingstoke arrive. There is some variance to these lengths of time in peak hours. No change to Saturday timetable.

**NEW** 12: Camberley – Deepcut – Mindenhurst
Operated by: Stagecoach
New route running generally hourly Mon-Sat serving the new Mindenhurst housing development in Deepcut (who provide funding), as well as maintaining a bus service along the northern part of Portsmouth Road between Ravenswood Roundabout and the A30/A325 junction following the 34’s diversion from the same date (see below). The 12 has been planned to run from Camberley Station along Upper Park Road, Church Hill, Crawley Hill, Portsmouth Road, The Maultway and Deepcut Bridge Road as far as the Brunswick Road bus stop. From here it would turn left into Brunswick Road and perform an anticlockwise loop through the new estate, which has had bus stops with smart shelters in place for some time at The Frog pub, close to the school, and by The Royal Way. After completing its loop through the estate, it rejoins Deepcut Bridge Road at the top of Deepcut and returns to Camberley. A typical round trip is timed at 38 minutes, with Stagecoach saying that the 12 is due to be reviewed alongside the hourly Surrey County Council tendered 11 (Farnborough – Deepcut – Camberley – Frimley Park Hospital – Paddock Hill) next year with a view to provide some sort of combined frequency. Departures from Camberley will be 0810-1755 weekdays and 0940-1655 Saturdays, and from Mindenhurst 0735-1727 weekdays and 0900-1615 Saturdays. The gaps between some of the hourly stints may presumably exist as self-contained driver breaks, what with the route being isolated from the Aldershot and Farnborough ‘hubs’ where Blackwater Valley area driver changeovers tend to take place and the relatively short term nature of the initial offering prior to the anticipated review to co-ordinate with the 11. Due to an anticipated year-long closure of the southbound carriageway along Deepcut Bridge Road from the same date though, Stagecoach will operate the Deepcut loop in a clockwise direction. As a result of this, Farnborough-bound route 11 services will also divert through Mindenhurst over the same route as the 12. Northbound 11s towards Camberley and Paddock Hill can continue to run as-now along Deepcut Bridge Road.

34: Guildford – Sutton Green – Woking – Camberley
35: Guildford – Mayford – Woking – Camberley

Operated by: Stagecoach
The 34 currently runs hourly all week Guildford – Slyfield – Sutton Green – Woking – St. John’s – Knaphill – Bisley – West End – Lightwater – Bagshot – Camberley, with the 35 providing an hourly Mon-Sat daytime service via Mayford instead of Sutton Green and serving additional residential roads in Lightwater. Together, they offer a combined near half-hourly service over common sections. The 34 will now be doubled in frequency to run broadly half-hourly seven days a week, but with a re-routing between Slyfield Green and Westfield via the A320 and Westfield Road. There are some longer gaps at certain times of day to presumably enable increased peak hour running time without requiring additional resources. Essentially, 34s will run via the current 35 route between Guildford and Mayford, then along to Westfield to rejoin the current line of route onwards to Woking and Camberley. This restores a two buses per hour frequency through the Westfield and Kingfield residential areas of Woking, which was halved to hourly during the pandemic. At the northern end, between Bagshot and Camberley, buses will run direct along the A30 London Road as per the 11 and White Bus 500, rather than along Portsmouth Road and Crawley Hill and up over the level crossing. The northern end of Portsmouth Road will retain a Camberley link by way of new route 12 (see above), with Crawley Hill/Church Hill/Upper Park Road retaining the 2, 3 and White Bus X94. The section of route through Jacobs Well and Sutton Green abandoned by the re-routed 34 is to be served by a revised and shortened Mon-Sat 35, which will now run every 90 mins Guildford – Jacobs Well (direct avoiding Slyfield) – Sutton Green – Mayford, then current route into Woking via Egley Road, York Road and Victoria Way. As a result of the 35 being curtailed north of Woking, the residential roads off the main Guildford Road in Lightwater currently served by the 35 (MacDonald Road, Clearsprings, Aplin Way, Badger Drive and The Avenue) will no longer be served. Additionally, Christ’s College Guildford will be served by route 35 rather than 34, and the school days only 1505 Winston Churchill School to Lightwater ‘relief’ journey will be incorporated into the main 34 timetable.

***NEW 34/35 FREQUENCIES***

34 – Guildford – Slyfield – Westfield – Kingfield – Woking – St. John’s – Knaphill – Bisley – West End – Lightwater – Bagshot – Camberley
Weekdays half-hourly 0515-2045 + 2145/2245 from Guildford, and half-hourly 0650-2020 + 2120/2220/2320 from Camberley. Saturdays 0520/0620 then half-hourly 0710-2045 + 2145/2245 from Guildford, and 0705/0755 then half-hourly 0855-2020 + 2120/2220/2320 from Camberley. Sundays half-hourly 0710-1910 + 2020 from Guildford, and 0855 then half-hourly 0955-1855 + 1955 from Camberley.

Seven Guildford to Woking return trips plus an afternoon Woking to Mayford short return on weekdays, and eight return trips on Saturdays. Broadly every 90 minutes with some longer gaps on weekdays. Weekdays 0700-1730 from Guildford and 0750-1820 from Woking, and Saturdays 0730-1800 from Guildford and 0815-1840 from Woking. During term time, the 0750 from Woking and 1510 from Guildford journeys will serve Christ’s College at 0820/1522 respectively.

46: Guildford – Godalming – Elstead – Farnham
Operated by: Stagecoach
Current base service pattern continues, but with around five minutes extra end-to-end running time added to aid reliability.

64: Alton – New Alresford – Winchester
Operated by: Stagecoach
New weekday 0715 Winchester to Alton journey, returning at 0815 from Alton to Winchester (latter effectively an extension of the current 0847 New Alresford to Winchester ‘short’).

65X: Alton College – Fleet – Weybourne
Operated by: Stagecoach
The lunchtime journeys to/from Alton College (1125 Weybourne to Alton College and 1245 return) are withdrawn, with the remaining afternoon trip having four extra minutes of running time spread along its length.

70: Guildford – Godalming – Haslemere – Midhurst
Operated by: Stagecoach
Weekday 0855 Midhurst to Guildford journey retimed to run five minutes later.

71: Guildford – Godalming – Chiddingfold – Haslemere
Operated by: Stagecoach
Minor retimings to Woolmer Hill School journeys – more information to follow when known.

74: Weydon School – Badshot Lea – Folly Hill
Operated by: Stagecoach
Timings unchanged but route diverted away from Burnt Hill Road to instead run along Shortheath Road, Ridgway Road and Frensham Road as per the 75 (Weydon School – Churt – Rushmoor).

400: Guildford to Onslow (Park & Ride)
Operated by: Stagecoach
Service restored, having been suspended since the pandemic broke out and the site being used as a COVID-19 testing site. Route will be renumbered 100 (previously used by the also long-term suspended Spectrum Leisure Centre park and ride service) and operate half-hourly Monday to Saturday. Pre-pandemic, the service ran to a quarter-hourly frequency. The first journey will leave Onslow at 0630 and the last returning from Guildford at 1900, with an enhanced weekday peak 20 min frequency operating 0700-0920 and 1600-1800. Buses will make a single intermediate stop at the back entrance to Guildford railway station, setting down towards Guildford and picking up towards Onslow. Having been launched in 2013, an additional stop near Guildford Cathedral on The Chase was added in 2018, but this will not be served in this relaunch.

403: All Hallows School – Ash Vale – Fox Lane
Operated by: Stagecoach
Minor retimings to afternoon journey as follows (old/new): All Hallows School 1530 – Tongham Manor Close 1543 – Ash Wharf 1548 – Ash Vale Station 1551/1553 – Mytchett Crossroads 1555/1558 – Hawley Lane Estate Shops 1606/1608 – Fox Lane All Saints Church 1612/1613

410: Farnborough Colleges – Fleet – Crondall
Operated by: Stagecoach
Morning journey revised, with the morning duplicate starting at Fleet (The Oatsheaf) rather than Church Crookham (The Wyvern).

415: Alderwood School – Wellesley
Operated by: Stagecoach
Morning journey will depart the Wellesley and Aldershot Centre for Health timing points ten minutes earlier (0757/0800), arriving at the school five minutes earlier (0815). Afternoon journey will run five minutes later throughout (1505 arriving 1518).

441: All Hallows School – Southwood
Operated by: Stagecoach
Renumbered 401, a number last used locally on an All Hallows to Old Dean variant of the 1, in turn removing the last evidence of the ’41’ number around North Camp following that route’s withdrawal from 31st March this year. The route and timetable are also amended, with buses diverted in North Camp between St Alban’s Roundabout and Canterbury Road away from Queens Road and Park Road, to instead continue along Alexandra Road and the western end of Reading Road.

513: Kingston – Esher – Cobham – Downside
Operated by: Reptons Coaches
Minor timetable revisions. The first Kingston to Downside direction trip will serve Downside before performing the Cobham Lockhart Road double run, rather than doing the small loop twice in close succession. Passengers travelling to these locations can remain on the bus beyond Downside and alight from the bus on its way back towards Kingston. Further along this second Kingston-bound journey, the bus will run via the normal route through Thames Ditton rather than Hampton Court (it is the only journey of the four trips that currently does this so makes the timetable a bit more consistent).

571: Staines – Sunbury – Grange Farm (M/W/F)
Operated by: Reptons Coaches
The short mid-route double-run in Lower Sunbury to Forge Lane/Anvil Road is withdrawn.

**NEW** 603: All Hallows School – Frimley
Operated by: Stagecoach
New afternoon-only route partially replacing the current school day extension of the 1540 Aldershot to Yateley route 3 journey from All Hallows School. It will run as follows: All Hallows School (1530) – Ash Wharf (1545) – Ash Vale Station (1550) – Mytchett Crossroads (1555) – Frimley Green Rose & Thistle (1600) – Frimley Church Road (1606). All Hallows School will continue to be served in the morning by the current school day extension of the 0643 Yateley to Aldershot route 3 journey, albeit now arriving one minute later at 0823.

856: Woking College – Addlestone – Sunbury
Operated by: Cardinal Buses
Morning journey given five minutes extra end-to-end running time spread along its length to aid reliability. The first afternoon trip (Addlestone to Kingfield Green) departs ten minutes earlier (1455) with a pause in Sheerwater (1513-1520) to board students from Bishop David Brown School, with no changes to the Kingfield Green to Upper Halliford return trip.

.

Monday 11th September

X94: F.P. Hospital – Bracknell – Heatherwood Hospital
Operated by: White Bus
1355 Frimley Park Hospital to Heatherwood Hospital journey retimed to run ten minutes earlier throughout.

564: Hersham – Walton – Xcel Leisure Centre

The current timetable offers ten full-length journeys in each direction Monday to Saturday, at a broadly hourly frequency. Departures from Hersham are 0808-1715 and from Xcel Leisure Centre 0836-1741. An additional 0727 Walton-on-Thames (Bridge Street) to Hersham journey operates on weekdays. From 11th September, a revised timetable will see the number of full length journeys reduced from ten to eight, covering a slightly reduced period of the day starting later in the morning and with a gap in the afternoon. Departures from Hersham will be hourly 0850-1350 & 1620/1715, and from Xcel Leisure Centre hourly 0918-1418 & 1648/1745. An additional ‘short’ operates 1555 Walton-on-Thames (Church Street) to Hersham. The elimination of the pre-9am journeys and creation of an afternoon gap would suggest to me that this will facilitate the route to be interworked with a school route, perhaps the 663 recently taken over from Diamond South East, which arrives at Walton Church Street a minute before the 1555 ‘short’ departs from the same stop. In the morning, the 663’s 0825 arrival at Esher High School gives time to get to Hersham Green for 0850.

Monday 18th September

**NEW** RHU: Egham – Royal Holloway University – Hox Park
Operated by: Diamond South East
New route replacing the existing Diamond-operated weekday daytime RH2 (Royal Holloway University – Hox Park – Kingswood Hall) and evening RH3 (Egham – Royal Holloway University – Hox Park – Kingswood Hall) routes, as well as the daytime First Berkshire 8B weekday daytime (Egham to Royal Holloway University) which had itself previously replaced the former Diamond/Hallmark RH1. The new daily ‘RHU’ will operate Egham Railway Station – RHU Founders Building – Hox Park with an end-to-end journey time of 16 minutes and 40 minute frequency, with departures from Egham 0700-1940 and returning from Hox Park 0722-2002. The service then goes hourly in the evening, with a diversion between the Founders Building and Hox Park (in both directions) to serve Englefield Green after White Bus’ 441 has finished for the day. Evening departures are 2020/2118/2218/2318/0018 from Egham and 2052/2152/2252/2352/0052 from Hox Park, with an end-to-end journey time of 24 minutes. A flat fare of £1 will operate to/from Egham, with the service being free on the rest of the route.

  2. I live just off the Portsmouth Road and it used to take me 5 minutes to get to Waitrose on the 34/35 bus. Now I cannot get a direct bus there at all. I have to take two buses and it takes me 30 minutes at least. Why can’t the 12 go along the A30 then up to Deepcut and the 34 still go direct to Bagshot? I had to walk to and from my dentist other day, and I am in my seventies.
