More MMCs

The Alexander Dennis Limited (ADL) Enviro MMC bodywork is gradually increasing its presence in our area. Courtney Buses just about edged in first with their Bracknell to Camberley route 194. Recent weeks have seen more local operators introduce them to the town that is home to an ADL factory though, Guildford – first came Arriva with around five transferred in from Kent, closely followed by White Bus a fortnight ago on the 462/3. I understand Stagecoach are also due some electric models for the Guildford Park & Ride, but it seems to have gone quiet on that front. Safeguard had YX65 RLO on demo for a time (this vehicle is now in Courtney’s fleet), and both Hallmark and White Bus had YX17 NXA on demo a few months ago. Arriva’s tend to work the 26/27 local circulars, but they do also make it onto routes such as the 34/35 to Camberley, where they also meet Courtney’s on the 194 and White Bus’ on the 500. I believe Arriva have six locally, while White Bus have five.

The latest batch arriving are for Falcon Coaches, ready for the operator’s take over of the final Abellio Surrey route tomorrow – the 461 Kingston to Addlestone. The five vehicles are registered YX68 UJP/R and YX68 ULP/R/S, and are 30 seater 8.9m models – the current equivalent to all but one of their current bus fleet. They wear a slightly revised bus livery, with the red skirt and blue stripe curving up at the rear.
